Why marl

Marl is yarn spun from two shades twisted together, which is why it reads as texture rather than flat colour. On a terry jogger that matters — the loop structure and the marl work together, and you can see what the fabric is from across a room. Black hides all of that.

The drawcord is left a contrasting grey rather than tonal, which is the only deliberate detail on the piece.

Straight leg, not tapered

Most joggers taper. These don't. They run straight from hip to hem with a deliberately wide leg opening, which is the single thing separating a considered trouser from a gym bottom. The hem is left raw cut, so it breaks properly over a trainer or a boot instead of gripping the ankle.

What goes with them

Light grey is the easiest of the three to build an outfit around in winter — it lifts a dark top rather than doubling down on it. Strongest with the Saint-Germain tee in black or an open Marais Merino Zip-Up. If you want the printed version, the Cavalry Joggers are the same cut in navy.
