No. Merino fibre is significantly finer than standard wool, which is what causes the scratch. It can be worn directly against the skin.

Will cream mark or discolour?
Cream needs more care than the other two colourways. Wash cold and separately, dry flat out of direct sunlight, and it holds its colour. Heat and sun are what yellow pale wool, not wear.
