What air layer fabric actually is
Most jackets at this weight are nylon shells stuffed with fill. This one isn't. Air layer is a double-knit fabric — two layers of face cloth held apart by a connecting yarn, with a cushion of trapped air between them. That air is what insulates. No wadding, no down, no baffles, no crinkle when you move.
The result is a jacket that holds its own shape rather than collapsing when you take it off, and one you can keep on indoors without overheating. It has the structure of outerwear and the hand of knitwear, which is a combination you don't get from a technical shell at any price.

Care
Machine wash cold, inside out. Hang to dry. Do not tumble dry. Do not press flat — heat and pressure crush the air layer and take the structure out permanently.
